Description

I've stuck with you for so long
those I've called my friends
I never quite belonged there
but I'd defend you till the end
I trusted you
for oh so long
I thought that you'd defend me
but hell was I wrong
I've always been much greater
and dared to speak my mind
I guess that makes it easier
leaving you behind
Your betrayal truly stunned me
It pierced me to the core
but it also made me realize
that I am so much more
More than I have ever been
living in your midst
The time that I have spent here
will be easy to forget
For I will be much greater
I will rise to starlit skies
and you will always regret
leaving me behind

A new character I'm looking forward to further developing, but this is all I have of her for now. :D This one was rather large and would not entirely fit onto my scanner, but this gives you the main idea, even if some of the edges are lost. :)

Finally this one is done! :w00t: This took me a very long time, but I believe the result is worth it. This was, I think, the first time I've ever completed anything featuring a paint on white paper, so there was a lot of learning went on throughout the course of its creation. :D I am so happy with how this came out, I've improved so much since this time last year. That being said, I am still continuing to improve, and I know that there are many things that could be better with this piece. Any and all constructive criticism you can give me on how to improve is very appreciated, especially that regarding technique and anatomy. :D
This was done nearly all with coloured pencil, and the mane, tail, legs, and facial markings were all accented with pearl acrylic. This gives them a bit of shine when you walk by, which I really like about this one. The base layer of the sky was done with prismas, and then gone over with a mixture of purple, pink, blue, and pearl acrylics. Originally, the it looked a bit like the sky in Easier to Run but faded to a light colour faster, to give it a daytime look. Since I used so few colours in acrylic, it would have been almost impossible to match that same colour in the second layer, so instead I got this. I think it actually makes the piece look stormy, an effect I really like. It really matches the mood in this picture, though it was totally unintentional.

Thank you so much to SalsolaStock for this wonderful image [link] . Though I flipped it around and changed some of the anatomy and the markings, it was still a big influence on this picture.

Thursday March 5th (base sketch) to Monday March 9, 2009 (finishing the sky) Coloured pencil, black pen, and acrylic on bristol board.

Maaaaaaan I'm jealous... Your drawings are always so beautifully coloured.
What I also noticed in most of your drawings is that your horses have very small eyes and ears. What is funny because until now I only knew people who would draw them much to big. Maybe you could try to make them a little bigger next time, but I think this drawing here shows that you are really improving. I like it a lot.
Maybe I should go and look for my coloured pencils...
